Biography
Danielle-Nicole Kerr received her Master's in Social Work at Adelphi University, with the focus on stress and trauma. She also received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from SUNY Old Westbury with a minor in Criminal Justice. Danielle-Nicole runs a caregiver center program within Northwell, providing emotional support and programs to family caregivers within the hospital and community at large. Danielle-Nicole previously also provided ABA services to children on the autism spectrum as a behavioral technician.
Danielle-Nicole's therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral, Strengths-based, and Client- Centered. Using the social work lenses, she recognizes that in order to help clients it is important to have a holistic perspective. Meaning it is not just the individual's problem that has to be assessed but it is important to also look at the social, cultural, and environmental factors that contribute to the presented problem. Danielle believes it is important for establishing relationship and collaboration with the client, creating a safe space for the client to be their absolute self with no judgement. The client is the expert in their own life and has the answers/ resolution with in them, but may need help to pull it out.
Danielle-Nicole also can provide therapy from a Christian Worldview perspective, since faith can have a major impact on mental health and can be a source of strength and healing.
In her personal time, she sings and tours with a professional gospel group and the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc, serves in her church's women's ministry and children's ministry. She also enjoys playing videogames, watching 1960's martial arts movies, binge-watching shows on various streaming platforms, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
