  • If you're dedicated to making personal changes for a more fulfilling life, therapy can be an excellent step forward. It's a common misconception that therapy is only for those facing "mental illness" or significant "psychological problems." In reality, anyone can benefit from therapy.

  • Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic process, built on trust between you and your therapist. With limited exceptions, the sensitive information shared in your sessions will remain private and will not be disclosed without your explicit consent.

For instance, if there is a need to collaborate with someone on your healthcare team, such as your physician, naturopath, or attorney, your therapist will only share information after obtaining your written permission.

However, there are certain situations where therapists are legally required to break confidentiality. This includes cases where there is a concern for your safety, the safety of others, or if there is suspicion of child abuse. In these situations, your therapist will discuss the necessary disclosures with you beforehand.
