Biography

Rachel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her Master’s in Social Work from Adelphi University.  Rachel began her career working with adults with developmental disabilities. She provided individual counseling and facilitated group therapy in addition to identifying and treating psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders.  She addressed each individual’s needs and preferences with a focus on socialization, coping skills, interpersonal conflicts and independent living. Rachel gradually transitioned to providing psychotherapy to adults and teens suffering from a wide range of mental health disorders and emotional distress. She helps clients to better understand their use of defense mechanisms to manage their internal conflicts which can significantly influence the individual’s behavior including their interactions with others, their decision-making processes and their emotional responses. Rachel utilizes a psychodynamic and client-centered approach to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship in a safe, nonjudgmental setting.  

In her personal time, Rachel enjoys playing the piano, playing tennis and spending time with her family.
